IS SCHOOLING STILL A LUXURY FOR A SUBLET OF SOCIETY?

The earliest encounter of a child with the social world begins in a school. Indeed, one cannot deny the fact that the school days are the best days of one’s life. However, it is saddening to realize that these moments are not lived by everyone.

Do you know what is disheartening? That this deprivation is due to the economic insufficiency, something that is not a matter of choice.

Time and again the society has witnessed the heavy brunt borne by people who are economically inadequate. The branch of this burden, woefully, extends to the incapability of educating their descendants.

Does anyone understand that depriving a child from education not only strips away them from knowledge but also their hopes, dreams and ambitions?

India is one of the countries currently dealing with the question of illiteracy. In all likelihood, education is the most crucial instrument to break the web of hunger, poverty and oppression. The indispensability of education can be seen through the outcomes it generates. It enables people to be educated, equipping them to engage in promising careers and thereby contribute to their own well being.

There are many children in the world who are unable to obtain education or have to drop from schools because of their financial incapacity. Often, due to poverty these children, who have the potential to grow like anyone else, are forced to work in order to earn a penny and sustain their living. The need of an hour is to provide them with education and incorporate them in the mainstream development sector.

Will the heaviness of one’s wallet dictate the access to education?

Unfortunately, it happens.

Does it need to change? The answer stands affirmative.

Has it changed? No. It hasn’t.

Do we have some obligation towards them as a society?

Ask yourself, because you might have a chance to somehow change someone’s life.
